Knock Knock !
‘’Who’s it’’? I asked in a forlorn tone. It was just another day with the mundane routine keeping me busy.
‘’It’s me, LIFE” came the reply.
‘’Oh”, said I, “What a Surprise”!
Life: Were you expecting someone else?
Me: I always expect Gandalf at my doorstep to take me on an adventure.
Life: (with a grin), typical, aren’t you? Wishing for things that aren’t around!
Me: How could you say that? I am neck deep in chores and bored with the prosaic routine. At times, I feel I am deprived of energy and there is no strength to carry on.
Life: I am simple; it’s you who make it complicated.
Me: Care to explain?
Life: Well, have you heard about the 40% rule followed by US Navy seals?
Me: No…
Life: It is a methodology adopted to develop mental strength. When you think you are exhausted and there is no more energy, it means you have just utilised 40% of your potential. You still have another 60% left to continue. It’s a matter of telling your brain that you aren’t tired.
Me: Interesting though, but does it work?
Life: It’s scientifically proven. I see there is no harm in trying.
Me: I suppose so, anything to keep me energised. Also, it would keep me away from brooding on the opinion of people and ponder less on self-doubts.
Life: Do you think others care about your opinion and waste their precious time?
Me: I am not certain.
Life: It’s imperative to stop contemplating about the judgement of others. You are not here to impress or reform the world, but to lead a cheerful existence. Never let the voice of naysayers suppress you.
Me: I agree, just that at times, my concentration drifts into such unwanted space.
Life: As I said before, it’s all about wiring your mind. I have bestowed you enough to lead a contended existence, don’t compare against others and make yourself unhappy.
Me: I nodded in silence.
Life: There are things that might seem tricky, but maintain your positivity and keep walking; everything might make sense in due course.
Me: Perhaps you are right! At times, I miss my job, I miss the hectic schedule. But to think of it, I should enjoy my time with my baby who needs me more than anyone else. In just a matter of time, I can restart my career without guilt!
Life: There you go! Stop Overthinking, stay grateful for the things you have and be a ray of sunshine. You will see beauty and find peace. There will be rough patches now and then, but sustain, it’s all meant to strengthen you as a person.
Me: That was an insightful perspective. Though it’s all in my head, I suppose I just needed a reiteration!
Life: Happy to help, now let me brighten up someone else’s day!
As the conversation ended, I felt lightness in my head and energy brimming within to face the day. I beamed with smile as I recollected the quote of my Idol Maya Angelou – “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style”.
