Important interview tips

Now that you have got a call from your dream company, are you getting worried for your interview? Even the smartest and capable person does get a bit jittery before an interview. Do not worry, just be yourself.  Remember that if you do land a job where you had given exaggerated/wrong information, then you will find that you are not suited for the job very soon and will end up in a quagmire.

So, the easiest way to prepare for an interview, is by being yourself. But it is very essential that you be mentally prepared on how you will approach the interview. Be thorough with what is written on your resume. If you have taken a break in career, be ready to face some questions that would cater specifically to your break period. The interviewer would like to be appraised of what you have done to upskill yourself and to be recruited again in that specific field.

It is very essential that you be dressed in appropriate clothes for the interview. The clothes will have to suit the type of job that you are opting for.  Go for a wardrobe change if you are trying for a job, after a long stint at home. The cue is being presentable and professional without being overboard.

You need to appear relaxed and confident. It is not necessary that you be able to answer all the questions. Be Honest. But there are some positions where the interviewer may be checking on how you would be managing a situation with very little information. A lot of managerial, sales jobs need these types of skills, where you would start to operate with very little data.

If you do not understand the question, do not assume. Do not hesitate to ask the interviewer to state it again.

It is very essential that you listen and let the interviewer know that you have heard and understood what was said. Listen to the interviewer as he will be giving you information directly or indirectly. Use that to your advantage.

If you are uncomfortable with a specific question, state it so. There may be interviews where the interviewer may be testing you on your tolerance or stress taking capabilities. A project manager or a customer facing sales person could be tested on how they would be reacting on highly stressful situations. So, it is very essential that you remain calm and composed, irrespective of the type of questions.

Research the company that you have applied for and understand the job description thoroughly.

Get adequate rest before the interview.

Never appear desperate for the job.  Have a confident and composed nature.

An interview does require spending lot of time on reviewing the questions and answers. At the end of the day, it is the opportunity that you have been waiting for. Ensure that you boost your chances by following the tips mentioned here.
